Our Story
Otoniel Tarin
Otoniel was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. Dreaming of a better life, at the age of sixteen, he decided to migrate to the United States. His journey began with his uncle Mundo in 1976 in Santa Ana, where he worked alongside him at “Mundo’s Restaurant.” His time at “Mundo’s” started with washing dishes, slowly working his way up to becoming a chef, where he honed his skills in creating the finest Mexican dishes.
In due time, Otoniel carried these skills forward and decided to open his own restaurant after his uncle Mundo retired. In 1989, he founded “Taqueria Los Grandes”. His mission in founding this restaurant was to serve high-quality meals using the freshest ingredients, from top-notch meats to his signature picante ‘salsa de aceite.’
Otoniel found a deep passion for cooking and running his business, and Taqueria Los Grandes became an iconic location for authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Santa Ana. Through his dedication, he built lasting relationships with his customers, serving them with loyalty and respect. Many returned again and again for the delicious meals that Taqueria Los Grandes continues to offer today, a testament to his legacy.
